Andrea Iannuzzi runs a recurring series of workshops on painting and art techniques from his studio in Glasgow.
Combining his classical art studies and years of experience and personal research and experimentation with traditional and contemporary materials and techniques, the workshops cover tools and methods of art making, such as canvas stretching and priming, oil and watercolour paint making and more.
By being able to participate in the process from beginning to end, artists gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of their artwork and are capable of achieving better results and create artwork of a superior quality.

An often lost part of routine studio practise, the production of one's own art supplies allows artists more autonomy over the quality of surfaces and materials they use, whilst also offering much greater economy.
The first of this three courses will explore how to hand make and use Dry Drawing Media. First the students will learn how to make chalks, sanguines, and dry and soft pastels. Then, students will learn how to use the materials produced, in a series of lessons lead by the tutor, covering the basic techniques, as well as their more experimental ones.

Andrea Iannuzzi teaches a ten weeks practical course, exploring the craft of painting and its practical knowledge, traditionally shared in artist studios.
The course will consist of a series of lessons investigating a specific topic, from choosing, assembling and preparing a variety of surfaces, to learning about pigments and binders, and how to combine them to create different paints, to learning about varnishes and mediums, how to choose them, how to mix them and how to use them.
Each class will include a demonstration from the tutor and a practical workshop in which the students will apply the knowledge acquired to produce the different materials.
At the end of the course, under the tutor’s guidance, all the materials will be utilized in a series of practical lessons, to gain a better understanding of the materials and techniques.
